Today we celebrated Prabodhini Ekadashi or Devothan Ekadashi. This is the 11th lunar day (ekadashi) in the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu month of Kartik. It marks the end of the four-month period of Chaturmas, when god Vishnu is believed to sleep. It is believed that Vishnu sleeps on Shayani Ekadashi and wakes on Prabodhini Ekadashi.
Also today is the wedding day of Goddess Tulsi(Holy Basil), so we performed the rituals and worshipped her, lighted the Diyas, ate the prasad.
So I am in India for the winter break, and since this winter break started with deepawali it was all the more fun. And this todays festival was in continuation to deepawali, this festival now marks the beginning of wedding season in India.
So today was a very busy day. and since i was tired i slept a lot felt much better after sleep. Miss putlu too had her share of sleep. During the pooja time she was startled to see the shimmering lights but somehow she got too tired watching them too. Then her grandfather lit some fireworks for her which again she was not so interested in. Hence I quickly offered her food , which was poori sabji and tapioca pearlls i.e. saabudaana kheer, she liked it the most and then she quickly slept off giving me sometime to write this ;)
